2019-2-4

Recently, when students were under the tension of preparing final exams, our university's dragon dance team received an invitation to perform their program on CCTV. Their previous excellent performance in national competitions arouses people’s interests.

Recommended by the Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance Sports Association, NJUST dragon dance team was invited to participate in the recording of “The 7th CCTV New Year's Cup Lion King Competition and National Fitness Carnival“, which is hosted by CCTV Sports Channel. The show would be on CCTV5 through live broadcast from 8:00a.m to 10:00 a.m. on February 5th and would be replayed on CCTV1 on February 6th from 8:35 to 9:35.

The pressure of examinations did not weaken the team members’ commitment to dragon dance practice. Nearly 20 dragon dancers from various departments have overcome of difficulties. They balanced final exam and dance training well. Despite the enormous difficulties, every member of the team was brimming with a sense of pride every time they thought of such a chance to representing our university to demonstrate the traditionally ethnical charm of Dragon Dance on CCTV during the lunar New Year.

The team arrived at the recording location of the event on January 19th. The recording place is Xiqiao Town, Foshan, Guangdong Province, which is also the hometown of the Kong Fu master—— Huang Feihong. The rehearsal and recording period lasted for 6 days, and our splendid show 'Rising Dragon, Leaping Lion' became the opening program of this event.

During the recording, all members of the team stay together, live together, and go through the details of the performance. Recordings were made repeatedly, they dedicated to many times’ practice and rehearsals, simply for presenting a perfect performance for audience.
