1ST NUST High-level Zijin Forum held in Sci & Tech Hall

From December 29th to 30th, fifty outstanding young scholars from home and abroad gathered in Sci & Tech Hall, NUST for the 1st NUST High-level Zijin Forum, which aims at exchanging academic ideas, promoting academic innovation and attracting high-level talents back to work in China. More than 240 applications swarmed into the E-mail box of the forum staff from September till now. Among them, fifty attendants, all coming from top 200 international universities or research societies, were selected and invited by the forum committee.

The opening ceremony presided by Vice President Liao Wenhe was attended by NUST President, Professor Wang Xiaofeng, Professor Wu Xiaobei, President assistant, Professor Chen Qian and deans, directors from other departments, and students representatives.

President Wang Xiaofeng delivered the keynote speech by presenting warm congratulations to the forum and sincere welcome to those attendants. Professor Wang emphasized that the Dream of NUST stems from the dream of talents. Only with the talent strategy can we build a high-level university. Later on, Wang explained more provincial and school policies about introducing more talents from abroad. In the end, he invited and welcomed attendants to join the NUST family and realize their dreams.

An advocate video depicting NUST from an overall and detailed aspect shares more information with the young scholars. More talent policies were introduced by Director of Personnel Services, Kong Jie. Professor Zhou Min shared her thinking from coming back to motherland, to joining in NUST, to working for a year. Her sincere words echoed all attendants.

After the opening ceremony, the forum switched to lecture-report round. Five outstanding scholars Professor Xu Shengyuan, Professor Chen Qian, Professor Zhu Yuntian, Professor Li Qiang and Professor Li Jiansheng presented a series of academic reports from different subject fields.

Seven sub-forums categorized into Material, Environment, Electronic Information, Mechanical Control, Bio-chemistry, Energy Power and Social Science, would be held afterward in relevant colleges. More in-depth exchanges and discussions were carried out between the young scholars and NUST teachers.
