NJUST Students Shines at the 2019 Mathematical Contest in Modeling and

Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling

The results of the 2019 Mathematical Contest in Modeling and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) were officially announced recently. NJUST students won 5 first prizes and 19 second prizes.

MCM/ICM is one of the highest-level international college contests in the world. This contest, which originated in 1985, is an international discipline contest initiated by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP). It has been supported by many organizations such as the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and the National Security Agency. The annual contest has been incorporated into China’s evaluation system of innovative talents training in colleges and universities.

The 2019 MCM/ICM was held simultaneously from January 24th to 28th through the Internet with a contest time of 4 days and 4 nights. It attracted 25,370 teams from 17 countries, including the United States, China, and Canada.

The Mathematical Modeling team from School of Science assisted with the registration in NJUST. NJUST highly valued this contest. The Academic Affairs Office and the School of Science gave strong support to the organization, funds, and guidance. The contest was during the winter vacation. The participants completed four weeks’ targeted counseling and simulation before the contest with the design and guidance of the coaching staff. They finally improved their competence and achieved great results.
