Nanjing University of Science and Technology established Jiangsu's first Belarusian research center

The first Belarusian research center in Jiangsu Province was officially unveiled at Nanjing University of Science and Technology on the 28th. The center will gather the research strength of China and Belarus, integrate the research resources of Belarus in Jiangsu Province, and build a high-end policy think tank with both scientific research and cultural communication functions.

 

The President of the Gomel National University of Belarus, Hahomov said that 2019 is China's Belarusian Year of Education. The establishment of the Belarusian Research Center of Nanjing University of Science and Technology is of great symbolic significance. It is a continuation of the close cooperation between China and Belarus. A big step on the basis of previous cooperation results.

 

“Jiangsu Province and Gomel State of Belarus were concluded as friendly provinces in 2016, while the National University of Gomel, Belarus and Nanjing University of Science and Technology have nearly 20 years of cooperation history.” Fu Mengyin, president of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, said that since 2005 when the comprehensive cooperation agreement was signed, the two sides have achieved three milestones. First, international joint laboratories have built to promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Second, Confucius Institute have been established, which has built a bridge of cultural exchanges between the two countries. Third, the Belarusian Research Center promotes the mutual integration of civilizations between the two countries.

 

Huang Ying, Director of the European Africa Division of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will further guide the Belarusian Research Center of Nanjing University of Science and Technology to implement the science and technology cooperation plan to promote the development of the industrial and trade industries in the two countries. He states that the Ministry will help organize experts to conduct collaborative research on the political, economic and cultural fields in Belarus, and work together to build a high-end policy think tank.

 

China has established 9 Belarusian research centers, and there are 3 in our consular district. The center will become a window for teachers and students of Nanjing University of Science and Technology to understand the history and literature of Belarusian,” said Matsel, Consul General of the Consulate General of Belarus in Shanghai.
