Team “Wrangler” of NJUST won 2019 International (Changzhou) Automatic Drive Technology Innovation Competition

On March 30, 2019, International (Changzhou) Automatic Drive Technology Innovation Competition was held in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. “Wrangler”, NJUST unmanned intelligent vehicle, won the championship.

 

2019 International Automatic Drive Technology Innovation Competition is also a competition of the World New Energy Vehicle Intelligent Energy.

 

The autonomous vehicles participated in this competition came from Suzhou Jinlong, Trina Solar, Changning Data, NJUST, Southeast University, Jiangsu University, and many other enterprises and universities. The competition events include pedestrian avoidance, speed limit, traffic light recognition, construction bypass, motor vehicle obstacle avoidance, etc.

 

“Wrangler” in this competition is the latest generation of unmanned driving system developed by NJUST unmanned vehicle team. 


The team was led by Professor Ren Mingwu from the Department of Intelligent Science of the School of Computer Science and Engineering. The latest system is equipped with various sensors such as visible light, Thermal Imager, laser radar, millimeter wave radar, inertial navigation, etc. 


It can complete robust autonomous sensing, intelligent decision-making and planning, motion control and other functions through different technical routes, covering a variety of cutting-edge technologies of artificial intelligence. 


The system is also able to cope with a variety of complex road conditions, which embodies the latest research results of the School of Computer Science and Engineering.

 

Professor Yang Jingyu is a pioneer scholar in NJUST who started the unmanned driving research. After several generations of continuous research, many teachers and students participated in the “big events” organized by different authorities, and made fruitful achievments.
