Texas Instruments Innovation Center Unveiled in NJUST

On August 20, Texas Instruments Innovation Center at NJUST was inaugurated at the School of Electronic and Optical Engineering.

 

Attended the inaugural ceremony were Wang Chengning, director of Texas Instrument(TI) Asia-pacific University Planning Department, Chen Qian, Vice President of NJUST, Wang Dong, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs Office, and Bai Lianfa, Dean of School of Electronic and Optical Engineering. Sheng Weixing, Vice Dean of the School of Electronic and Optical Engineering, presided the ceremony.

 

Sheng Weixing first introduced the significance and development orientation of the innovation center. The center intends to carry out industry-education integration and collaborative innovations through efforts made in talent training program revision, talent training mode reformation and scientific research.

 

The center will embark on training mode reformation such as “project curriculum” and enterprise practice according to the characteristics of international innovative talents training.

 

Geared to the needs of strategic emerging industries such as the new generation of mobile communications and Internet services, artificial intelligence and robotics, the center will also carry out scientific and technological innovation cooperation.

 

Director Wang Chengning mentioned that TI set up innovation centers in universities across the country in response to the call of the Ministry of Education. Its aim was to provide more comprehensive practical conditions for students of all majors, and strengthen the construction of theoretical courses practice with schools and universities.

 

Wang also mentioned that he hoped the company and the school would have more cooperation after the establishment of the innovation center, sharing scientific and technological achievements, and cultivating more innovative talents.

 

Wang Dong from the Academic Affairs Office introduced the improvement of students’ ability  through practical platforms or scientific research training. The construction of platforms owns to the support of excellent enterprises like TI.

 

Bai Lianfa of the School of Electronic and Optical Engineering expressed the hope that TI could give full play to its advantages, share academic frontier report of discipline from the perspective of world-class enterprises, and offer suggestions for improving the talent training system and mechanism.

 

On behalf of the university, Vice President Chen Qian made a concluding speech. He welcomed Director Wang and his delegation and thanked for establishing the innovation center in NJUST.

 

Chen said the establishment of the center is in line with the development needs of companies and universities in the new era, which can spur the better development of both sides.

 

Chen highly praised the significance of the establishment of the innovation center. With more professional instruments, theoretical courses are closely combined with laboratory practice, which is of great contribution to the cultivation of talents in the field of electronic information and the improvement of teachers’ scientific research ability.
