The 4th International Symposium on Nanostructured Energetic Materials(NSEMs) and its Applications was held in Nanjing from November 2 to 4.

Participants, over 117 experts and scholars, are from national or international universities and research centers, covering the National Scientific Research Centre of France, Pretoria University in South Africa, Semenov Chemistry Institute from Russia, Chemical Kinetics and Combustion Institute, the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Gomel State University from Belarus, City University of Hong Kong, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Northwest University, Southwest University of Science and Technology and North University of China, etc..

Prof. Liu Dabin, dean of the School of Chemical Engineering, gave an opening speech. Prof. Chao Yimin from the Royal Society of Chemistry, the United Kingdom briefly reviewed the history of the Symposium before his invited speech. More invited speeches were given by Professor Carole Rossi from the French National Science Research Center, Professor Zhang Kaili from the City University of Hong Kong, Professor Yan Qilong from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Jiang Xiaohua, etc.. Exchanged ideas focused on the latest technological development of nanostructured energetic materials, Pyro-MEMS and the related interdisciplinary disciplines. Among the 17 invited reports and 39excellent research posters, 4 won the reward of Excellent Research Poster.

Professor Shen Ruiqi spoke highly of the fruitful conference at the closing ceremony. As an information-sharing platform, the Symposium provides researchers more opportunities to get in touch with the cutting-edge technologies and promote in-depth cooperation and development in the fields of nanostructured energetic materials and pyro-MEMS.
