Academician Katharina Kohse-Höinghaus was appointed the Honorary Professor of NJUST

On November 6th, the Honorary Professor Appointment Ceremony of the Germany academician Katharina Kohse-Höinghaus was held at the Conference Center. Chen Qian, vice president of NJUST, issued the letter of appointment and delivered a welcome speech. Zhang Heng, dean of the Office of International Affairs (OIA), WangHan, vice dean of OIA, leaders and staff representatives from the School of Energy and Power Engineering attended the ceremony and the academic lecture afterwards.

The lecture given by Academician Kohse was titled “Chemistry and Diagnostics for Cleaner Combustion” which explicitly presented the international cutting-edge issues concerning energy utilization, clean combustionpollution control, etc.. After the lecture, Kohse had an in-depth discussion and shared her own experience on how to conduct researches with the participants.

Pro. Katharina Kohse-Höinghaus is a world-class expert in combustion whose interdisciplinary research covers chemistry, physics and engineering, and has published more than 300 papers. She has won numerous awards, including Distinguished Women in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering Award of IUPAC, Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Giulio Natta Medal of Polytechnic University of Milan, International Scientific Cooperation Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Friendship Award of PRC, China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award, Alfred C. Egerton Gold Medal of the Combustion Institute. In addition, she is the academician of five academies, including the Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, German Academy of Science and Engineering and the Academy of Europe.
